A pretexto duma das maratonas literárias que estou a participar tive que pesquisar alguns livros que tinham sido publicados no ano em que nasci.
Uns dias depois a Joca do (blog e canal do Youtube) Little House of Books criou uma *TAG - Livros do Ano em que Nasci.
E é isso que vos trago hoje, livros publicados em 1989. Alguns tenho-os na biblioteca cá de casa, outros são livros que quero ler. E até já li alguns deles.
One of the summer reading marathons that I'm participating had the challenge of reading a book published in the year I was born. Along with that Joca from the blog and Youtube channel Little House of Books created a *Tag - books from the year I was born.
And that's what I will be talking about today, books published in 1989. Some of them I have in my home's library, other I want to read. And I even have read a few of them.
1) Os Pilares da Terra vol.1 e vol. 2 | The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Romance Histórico passado na época medieval. Nunca li. Mas interessam-me. Existem vários livros do Ken Follett nas estantes cá de casa, mas este é sem dúvida alguma um dos mais conhecidos. Foi adaptado para série televisiva e esta também teve bastante sucesso.
Historical Fiction/Romance in the medieval times. Never read, although I'm interest in it. At my place we have many books from this author, but this one is by far the most famous book by him. It was adapt into a tv series that was also quite successful.
2) Pêndulo de Foucault | Foucalt's Pendulum by Umberto Eco
Umberto Eco era um estudioso da linguística e história exemplar. Adoro O Nome da Rosa, mas este ainda não peguei. Nem sei do que trata o livro!
Umberto Eco was a master in linguistics and history. I love his other book The Name of the Rose, but this one I haven't read yet.
3) Herança de Vergonha (3º livro da trilogia Herança) | Born in Shame (Born In Trilogy, #3) by Nora Roberts
É um romance. Curiosamente é de uma das minhas trilogias preferidas da autora. É daqueles livros bons de ler quando não queremos pensar muito e divertir-nos com algum romance à mistura.
This one is a romance. Curiously it's from one of my favourite trilogies by the author. It's that type of book good to read when you want to have a good time without thinking too much.
4) The Mummy by Anne Rice
Há imensos anos que quero ler Anne Rice. A sua série mais conhecida é as Crónicas de Vampiros (em que o primeiro livro deu origem ao filme Entrevista com o Vampiro. Li o livro em Março). O ano passado adquiri vários livros das Crónicas de Vampiros e das Bruxas de Mayfair, mas não adquiri este livro, apesar de ter curiosidade em o ler.
I've been wanting to read Anne Rice for a long time. Her most known series is The Vampire Chronicles (the first book was the inspiration for the movie Interview with the Vampire. I read the book in March). Last year I bought some books from this series and also the Mayfair Witches one, but I didn't got this one, although I'm curious in reading it.
5) The Dark Half by Stephen King
Este foi o livro que escolhi ler para a maratona literária de verão. Sempre que leio um livro do Stephen King sobre escritores adoro-o. O que foi o caso deste livro. Dentro dos livros que li do autor, até agora, faz parte do TOP 5 - sendo que dois deles também são sobre escritores (Lisey's Story e Misery). Li-o durante o mês de Junho.
This was the book that I decided to read for the reading marathon. Every time I read a Stephen King book about writers - I love it. And this book was no exception. From the books that I have read from the author this one does part of the top 5 - along with other two that are also about writers (Lisey's Story and Misery). I've read it during June.
6) One Past Midnight: The Langoliers by Stephen King

7) House of Cards (Francis Urquhart, #1) by Michael Dobbs
Quase todas as pessoas já ouviram falar na série, sabiam que eram uma série de livros? Eu também não. Mas agora até fiquei com curiosidade para ler.
Almost everybody and their mother I have heard about the series with the same name, but did you knew the original was a series of books? Me neither, but now I'm curious about it.
8) From Hell by Alan Moore
É uma novela gráfica gigante sobre o Jack the Ripper e as mortes que ele provocou durante a Inglaterra Victoriana. É uma das minhas preferidas pelo fantástico Alan Moore (que também é autor de Watchman e V for Vendetta). Li-o em Março.
A massive Graphic novel about Jack the Ripper and his killings in Victorian England. It's one of my favourite graphic novels written by the great Alan Moore (that also wrote Watchman and V for Vendetta). I've read it in March.
9) Batman: Arkham Asylum - A Serious House on Serious Earth by Grant Morrison and Dave McKean
Outra banda desenhada que faz parte dos meus preferidos - desenhada por Dave McKean. É uma história doida com desenhos e grafismos que remetem para a loucura (o que faz imenso sentido para o Asilo de Arkham.). Re-li em Janeiro.
Another comic that it's a favourite of mine, drawn by Dave McKean. It's a crazy story with crazy visuals very suited for the Arkham Asylum. I re-read it in January.
