4 Nordic Crime Series I really want to read in 2017

O género de crime/thrillers sempre foi um género literário que me atraiu. Especialmente depois de ver tantos episódios de Poirot, CSI e Mentes Criminosas.

Tenho várias séries começadas a ler, mas hoje quero apenas destacar 4 (2 que vou continuar a ler e outras 2 vou começar). Os autores são de origem nórdica e os livros de crime nórdico têm sempre um je ne sais quoi que os torna especiais.

The genre of crime/thrillers has been for awhile one of my favourites. Specially after seeing so many episodes of Poirot, CSI and Criminal Minds.
I've started a lot of book series, but today I want to talk about 4 (2 that I'm already reading and other 2 that I want to start). All the authors are Nordic and well most Nordic crime books have something special about them.

1) Fjällbacka/Patrik Hedström de Camilla Läckberg

Esta série passa-se numa cidade piscatória na Suécia, chamada de Fjällbacka. As duas personagens principais são Patrik Hedström (detective da Polícia local) e Erica Falck (escritora). Os crimes por norma são violentos e marcantes (numa palavra apenas - brutais). Até agora, nos livros que li, os crimes estão sempre ligados ao passado ou da vítima ou do/a criminoso. A minha parte preferida, é como a autor descreve vida normal de uma pequena comunidade, cheia de elementos caseiros e aconchegantes, em contraste com os crimes violentos e os segredos escondidos por detrás da aparente normalidade.

Eu estou a ler esta série em Inglês, apesar de a série estar traduzida para português (pela editora Dom Quixote). A série têm 9 livros. Tenho os primeiros cinco:

1 - The Ice Princess (lido) | 4*

2 - The Preacher

3 - The Stonecutter (lido, enganei-me e li o terceiro em vez do segundo) | 5*

4 - The Gallows Bird

5 - The Hidden Child

The action in these series happens in a fishing city in Sweden, called Fjaällbacka. The main characters are Patril Hedström (police detective) and Erica Falck (writer). The crimes are brutal, violent and striking. So far, in the books I've read, the crimes usually are connected with the victim or criminal past. My favourite part is how the author can describe so well the live of a small community, with so many homey and warming feelings in contrast with violent crimes and secrets hidden in the apparent normal life.
The series has 9 books, so far, and I have 5 of them.

2) Harry Hole de Jo Nesbo

Harry Hole é o retrato típico do detective cheio de fantasmas do passado a assombrar-lhe o caminho. É uma criatura solitária que se agarra ao trabalho como uma âncora de salvação. É uma série, até agora, de 10 livros (mas parece que o 11 primeiro poderá sair algures durante este ano!). Harry Hole é polícia em Oslo, mas nem todos os livros se passam na Noruega. Apenas li um livro (o terceiro da série) e do qual gostei bastante. Uma das personagens do The Redbreast esteve na frente russa (do lado dos alemães) durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Os capítulos dedicados ao tema são excepcionais, os relatos do frio, fome... vale a pena ler.

Estes livros são os primeiros 5 da Sequência de Oslo, e das reviews que li diziam que poderia começar a série sem ler os dois primeiros. Eu comecei a ler e acho que discordo. Por isso ou irei comprar os dois livros, ou então irei lê-los em formato digital.

Também estou a ler a série em Inglês, pelo menos o livro que li está traduzido para português (pela editora Dom Quixote).

Harry Hole is the typical police detective hunted by the past and other ghosts. It's a solitary kind of guy and the work is his salvation anchor. So far this series have 10 books (it seems the 11th might be publish this year). Harry Hole is a police officer in Oslo, although not all the books happen in Norway. I've only read one book from these series (the third one) and I enjoy it a lot. One of the characters from the book The Redbreast was in the Eastern Front (in the Germany side) during WWII. The chapters dedicated to the matter are awesome, very well written with tales about the cold and hunger... it's worth reading.

These books are the first five from Oslo sequence, and from the reviews I read when I bought them, they say I could start without reading the first two. I read one, and kind of disagree with that. So I will either buy the two first books or I will reading in the digital format.

3) Joona Linna de Lars Kepler

Esta série está relacionada com inspector da polícia Joona Linna e as suas investigações. A acção passa-se na suécia. Supostamente esta série têm contornos de thriller. Não sei muito mais, nem sobre os livros, nem sobre a série. Mas estou com muita vontade de os ler. A série têm 6 livros.

Tenho os três primeiros livros da série.

1 - The Hypnotist

2 - The Nightmare

3 - The Fire Witness

Em Portugal estão a ser editados pela Porto Editora.

This series is related with police inspector Joona Linna and his investigations. The action is set in Sweden. What attracts me in this series is the thriller vibe they supposed to have. I don't know much more about the books or series. But I want to read them badly. The series has 6 books and I have the three first ones.

3 - The Fire Witness

4) Victoria-Bergman Trilogy/The Crow Girl de Erik Axl Sund

Outra série (trilogia) sobre a qual não sei muito. É classificado de thriller e aparentemente está ligado a tráfico de crianças.

Em Portugal os livros foram publicados pela Bertrand Editora e chamam-se A Rapariga-Corvo, Fome de Fogo e As Instruções de Pitonisa.

Em inglês os três livros foram publicados num volume só e com o nome The Crow Girl.

Other series (trilogy) that I don't know much about. It's classified has a thriller and seems to me that it's connected with human traffic (specifically with children). In the UK they were published in one volume called The Crow Girl.

All the books mentioned in this post were bought in second hand.
